Dr. William Ellis, IX
Yes, you did read that correctly, Dr. Ellis is the ninth generation William Ellis! Originally from Fostoria, a rural town in Northwest Ohio, Dr. Ellis grew up in a small family with a younger sister and an ingenuitive attitude towards life. He always knew his aspirations would take him beyond the opportunities available in his home town.
Upon graduating from high school with honors, in 2001, Dr. Ellis kept his family tradition alive by enrolling in The Ohio State University for the 2001 fall semester. 5 years later, Dr. Ellis graduated from The Ohio State University in 2006 with a Bachelors of Education in Exercise Science. He spent the next two years working as a Chiropractic Tech/Personal/Group Fitness Trainer at the same office where he had completed his internship.
In February of 2008 Dr. Ellis made the move to Davenport, Iowa to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic. Although graduate school was a bit of an adjustment with all of the late nights and long hours of coursework, Dr. Ellis embarked on the daunting journey towards pursuing his passion. Along the way, he was fortunate to have met some life-long friends, while at the same time reveling in the clashes of collegiate banter from his classmates. Along with his studies, he enjoyed Palmer bowling intramurals and being an Ambassador for Palmer’s Center for Business Development. After ten trimesters and three and a third years of intense coursework, Dr. Ellis graduated with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in the summer of 2011.
During his leisure time, Dr. Ellis enjoys several hobbies including watching sports, especially his beloved Buckeyes, Strength Training, Woodworking, and Electronics.
Is Chiropractic effective?
YES! Chiropractic is more than just popping bones and getting your back cracked. Chiropractic works by restoring your body’s innate intelligence, or its ability to heal itself. For your body to stay healthy, your nervous system must function well. For your nervous system to function well, it must not have any blockages or interference; the signals being sent to and from your nerves need a clear path to the brain. Think of it like a game of telephone.
Why should I see a Chiropractor?
Your nerves control everything in your body and Chiropractors are nerve specialists! Not only can we help you with back and neck pain, but we can also help you with so many other ailments like herniated discs, headaches, Fibromyalgia, numbness and tingling, jaw pain, digestive issues, and so much more. Chiropractic care is an excellent way to keep your body functioning at its best. You’d be surprised how much better you feel and function when you see a Chiropractor regularly.
What is a chiropractic adjustment? Is it safe?
The goal of an adjustment is to improve spinal motion, remove nerve interference, and improve your body’s function. A Chiropractic adjustment is a controlled, rapid force to a spinal or axial joint. Chiropractic adjustments are safe when it’s performed by a trained and licensed Chiropractor. An adjustment can be performed by hand or with a specialized instrument; one way is not more effective than another. During your adjustment, you may even hear a popping or cracking noise when we push on your back. This is called a joint cavitation and should not be alarming. It is simply the release of gases like oxygen and nitrogen from the joint.
What can I expect from my visit to a chiropractor?
Going to the Chiropractor is a new experience for many of us; and it can be kind of scary if you don’t know what to expect. And that’s okay – we’ve done this before, you haven’t! On your first visit, we will sit down and talk with you about what you are experiencing, go over your health history in depth, perform a focused exam to determine the cause of your problem, design a treatment plan that works best for your concern, and give you an adjustment once we’ve determined that is the best plan of action for you. There are so many ways to be adjusted, so if you are nervous about a particular portion of the adjustment, please let us know so we can talk about the different options.
What results can I expect from treatment?
Have you ever gone to the gym for just one day, and then quit because you didn’t like your results from that one workout? If you haven’t gone to the gym for awhile and you are out of shape, one day at the gym is not going to make you super sexy and ripped. Each work out builds on the workout you did the day before and that’s when you start getting results. Think of getting adjusted like going to the gym.
If your joints aren’t moving properly, your nerves are out of wack, you can’t do the simplest of actions, it hurts to do everything, one visit to us is not going to make you magically better.
We’re good, but not that good. It takes time.
Healing is a process. Often times much slower than we’d like! But each adjustment builds off of the previous adjustment(s).
Our goal is always to release you from care when you are FUNCTIONALLY better – not just once your pain goes away. We never want you to experience the same pain again and we will do everything we can take make that happen.
We want you to have a successful outcome as much as you do, but we can’t guarantee anything if you go rogue and make up your own treatment plan. We promise, we will never recommend care that you don’t need.
